Day 4 – Monday 20 June 2016 – Mildura – Port Augusta

A 536km day and everyone needs a holiday!  It was a VERY long day.

We did manage a few stops for some photos and it seemed like such an enormous milestone to cross the border into South Australia.  We’ve loved how the terrain and vegetation has changed throughout the different areas.  I’m now into territory that I’ve never travelled before which is exciting.  Some of the lovely little towns such as Burra are like a step back in time.  An interesting tour around Jamestown trying to find a petrol station (really – who thought it was a funny joke to hide the fuel from the tourists in the side streets?????}.

However the Fruit & Vegetable Police who just seemed to be enjoying their jobs a little too much including going through the caravan fridge and taking half our food out did take a little of the happiness of the day with them.

We stopped at a little caravan park a few kms out of Port Augusta which was half the price of the big van parks in town.  The amenities aren’t 5 star but so long as the showers are hot we’re happy.

Finally crossing the border!

Goodbye Victoria!

Today’s view from my door didn’t quite happen as we were just too keen to get on the road!
