Day 44 – Saturday 30 July 2016 – Mataranka - Daly Waters

This morning was quite cool and although we didn't get the rain we had during our last Mataranka visit, neither did we get the heat or the humidity.

We got on the road fairly quickly this morning and as a result after the just over 2 hour drive we were one of the first into camp at Daly Waters.  It was a very hot afternoon and having already done the local tour on our last trip we spent the afternoon relaxing while the dogs just chilled out under the air conditioning.  I thought I would cut up a nice selection of fruit to have for a light lunch and finally served up the Star Fruit I bought in Katherine.  Neither of us had ever tried Star Fruit before and I doubt we will again.  Not even the dogs would eat it!

Miss Kitty found a new spot to  be comfortable in although it looked far from comfortable to us - the stairwell in the caravan.  Kitty by name - Kitty by nature I guess - don't most Kitty's like sitting in a box?  I guess this is the next best thing in a caravan.

Sometimes you can be lucky and get really great neighbours and then sometimes you can get the ones we scored.  Guys - just a note here - if your shirt doesn't meet your shorts - there's trouble.  And we had a big wide gap of trouble next door.  There is only so much plumbers crack a girl can cope with before she has to shut herself indoors to avoid the sights.  This guy wasn't even bending over doing things and we already had more than enough.  And then to really make the time enjoyable, their dog kept coming over to our camp with its hair standing up on its back like it was aggressive and so I just decided it was time to shut the door and do some crochet.

It didn't seem to be as busy in the camping area as last time, that was until it was dinner time and despite taking the early sitting we were lucky to get a table right at the back of the dining area which as it turns out is also almost out on the street at the front of the pub.

And how lucky were we to find that Mr & Mrs Next Door were sitting at the next table.  And yes - you guessed it - he still had his short shorts on and we had the displeasure of watching the scene all over again.

Unfortunately the entertainer who we had enjoyed on our first visit to Daly Waters, didn't seem to be having a good a night so we headed off for an early night ourselves given we have an almost 400km drive ahead of us tomorrow.
