Day 45 – Sunday 31 July 2016 – Daly Waters - Threeways

A 382km drive today and we were on the road before 8.00am this morning (yep it even amazed me!).  It occurred to us today that it was a strange sensation driving back the way we had come up and recognising certain landmarks and even wayside stops we had stopped at on the way up the highway.  It gave us a strange sense of knowing that on the way up had been more a sense of unknowing and wonder.  We even recognised a few of the more memorably dressed ant hills but unfortunately due to traffic and lack of road verge we couldn't stop to take any more photos.

We broke the trip at Renner Springs and were amused to watch a goose make its way from the Roadhouse, through the carpark and across the Stuart Highway to the other side of the road we assume to a dam beyond a hill on the other side.  I'm not sure what she purchased at the roadhouse, but there was no time to gander about on the highway with the amount of traffic going past.  Apparently Shane was getting a little bored with all the travel.

Threeways........ what can you say - it's a roadhouse and a caravan park.  That's it!  We arrived just before 2.00pm and pulled into the park.  There were just 2 other caravans and a campervan which had just pulled in ahead of us.  Shane remarked at the size of the park, how big and empty it was.  The one thing we have learned, particularly after our stay at Threeways, is that just because a caravan park is in the middle of nowhere - don't think it will be deserted.  By 4.00pm the place was packed and there were still vans arriving long after the last powerpoint had been snapped up.  But the showers were hot and I managed to get some washing done - not to mention the neighbours were lovely - so it was a good stay.

The battery issue continues to get worse and we now have no use of our water pump.  It won't be an issue for those places where you can hook up to a water tap.  However......... given we don't know what to expect from hereon........
